Fox’s Gretchen Carlson Opens Up on Time Spent Backstage with Cosby

carlsonFox’s Gretchen Carlson opened up Tuesday afternoon about her experience backstage with accused serial rapist Bill Cosby, something she said gave her perspective on the slew of sexual assault allegations the comedian currently faces.

“I too had a meeting with Bill Cosby more than 25 years ago when I was Miss America,” Carlson said. “I had the opportunity to watch a taping of The Cosby Show and then spend time with him back stage eating sushi. No, nothing happened to me. But I thought of that meeting countless times reporting on all the other women who shared different experiences.”

In documents from a 2005 deposition obtained yesterday by the Associated Press, Cosby admitted to giving Quaaludes to a woman before having sex with her. The case was ultimately settled, but it has acted as seeming confirmation to the two dozen other allegations.

“The unsealed documents showing Cosby admitting he gave drugs to at least one woman before sex add weight to the other women’s claims,” Carlson said. “What will really come of it all? Like sexual harassment or sexual abuse, many times in our society, the answer is nothing. That’s why this story is so sad.”
