Fox’s Lawrence Jones Asks If ‘Activists’ at the White House and State Dept Are Having a ‘Celebration’ Over Biden’s Call For a Ceasefire

Fox & Friends spent a portion of their morning on Friday covering President Joe Biden’s call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza — to which co-host Lawrence Jones wanted to know if that was cause for “celebration” for some working in the White House.

Fox correspondent Mark Meredith filed a report and referenced Peter Doocy’s heated exchange on Thursday with White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby, during which Doocy questioned Biden’s “wavering” support for Israel.

That prompted Jones to ask about the “activists” who worked in the White House and the State Department who have criticized Biden for his support of Israel as the humanitarian crisis in Gaza grows:

Jones: Is there any celebration at the White House from the activists or at the State Department? Because I think this is what they wanted. They wanted Biden to really go after [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu]. So have they pulled back? I know there was a letter of over 100 staffers that criticized the administration. Are they pulling back some now that they got the criticism that they wanted?

Meredith: Lawrence, you bring up a good point, because you’re talking about the political pressure that both the president as well as the administration as a whole is facing, because, of course, this pressure is coming from members of the Democratic Party, those on the left. And so you’re right, there is another piece of the puzzle here that has to be addressed, that the White House is saying, look, we had this call with Netanyahu where our support is unwavering. However, they’re also, again, leaving that door open for changes later on. There is been some increasing pressure, including up on the Hill, from lawmakers saying that something has to be changed, that somebody has to be reined in. But the president really is in a tough spot here.
