Geraldo Defends Slager Comments to Bolling: He’ll Be Acquitted If Charged with Murder

On Fox & Friends this morning, Geraldo Rivera said that the dashcam footage of the moments before Officer Michael Slager fatally shot Walter Scott shows that Slager clearly isn’t guilty of murder, just manslaughter.

Rivera defended those comments tonight to a skeptical Eric Bolling, filling in for Bill O’Reilly, and argued that if Slager is charged with murder, then he will be acquitted, because the evidence won’t sustain that charge.

He told Bolling that Scott was resisting arrest, to which Bolling said resisting isn’t “grounds to shoot somebody.” Rivera said, “It is provocation sufficient to reduce the charge.”

Rivera invoked the Trayvon Martin case and said the political correctness in that case meant Goerge Zimmerman was charged with murder. Had he been charged with manslaughter, Rivera said, he wouldn’t have been acquitted.
