Gingrich: Trump Is Becoming ‘More Aware of the Responsibility He Has as President’

Newt Gingrich tonight said President Trump‘s speech yesterday shows how much he’s growing into the office of the presidency.

He told Martha MacCallum that Trump not only gave the best speech of his presidency, but he came out of all this “with a greater ability to negotiate with Congress today.”

MacCallum asked exactly what has changed about Trump so much. Gingrich said this:

“I try to tell everybody who asks about this. He is one of the three or four smartest people ever to be president. And people confuse the fact that he had a lot to learn because he hadn’t been in politics before with the speed with which he’s learning. He, I think, has learned a great deal about how to communicate with the country. He has learned a lot about bringing us together… With every passing week, he becomes more aware of the country, more aware of the responsibility he has as president.”
