Gutfeld Met With Near Total Silence After Joke About SNL Not Being Funny Completely Bombs: ‘Wow’

Fox News host Greg Gutfeld was met with near total silence on Thursday evening after a joke about SNL and a crashing plane completely bombed.

During his opening monologue on Gutfeld!, Gutfeld spoke about comedian Shane Gillis and his firing from Saturday Night Live (SNL) in 2019.

“Now if you’ve seen SNL in the past few years, you might even say he got lucky,” joked Gutfeld. “You know, he’s like the guy who causes a ruckus at the gate so he’s banned from boarding the plane, and then that flight crashes.”

While the first part of the Final Destination-eque joke received a few laughs from the audience, the second part was not so successful.

“SNL is like that crashing plane, only not as funny,” he added.

Gutfeld’s joke was met with near-total silence before a handful of audience members made some quiet, awkward chuckles.

“Wow,” one of his co-hosts could be heard saying off camera.

“I got some applause from a sick person,” Gutfeld declared after making a pained expression.

The awkward moment was picked up on social media by MMFA’s Andrew Lawrence, who reacted, “Hey do you want to see a joke bomb harder than any joke has ever bombed before?”
