Hannity Attempts to Goad Reluctant Trump Into Trashing Hillary Clinton: ‘She Tried To Ruin Your Life’

Fox News host Sean Hannity was disappointed that President Donald Trump did not criticize former 2016 foe and ex-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Friday night.

Trump met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on Friday to discuss a potential end to Russia’s war in Ukraine, which began in February 2022. The day before, Clinton said she would nominate Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize if he manages to pull it off.

“Honestly, if he could bring about the end to this terrible war… if he could end it without putting Ukraine in a position where it had to concede its territory to the aggressor… could really stand up to Putin, something we haven’t seen, but maybe this is the opportunity,” she said. “If President Trump were the architect of that, I’d nominate him for a Nobel Peace Prize. Because my goal here is to not allow capitulation to Putin.”

Trump emerged from the summit with Putin and said that they had not reached an agreement, which would ultimately need to include Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

We didn’t get there,” Trump announced, but he added that “we have a very good chance of getting there.”

Afterward, Trump sat for an interview with Hannity, who pointed to Clinton’s remarks:

HANNITY: Do you ever think Hillary Clinton – the author [sic] of the bought-and-paid-for Russian disinformation dossier, the author of the Russia, Russia, Russia hoax – going into today, would be saying she would nominate you for a Nobel Peace Prize? I don’t think you ever expected that happening.”

TRUMP: Well, you know, I don’t wanna be involved in that, in the sense, not because of her. It’s very nice if she said that. It’s very nice. I really appreciate too, actually. But–

HANNITY: She tried to ruin your life and in many ways she ruined three years of your life.

TRUMP: Well, she made me stronger and tougher. And you know, we had–

HANNITY: You are way more forgiving than me.

TRUMP: Well, it was a sad chapter and our country’s history. I will say that.

Trump then pivoted away from Clinton and toward his meeting with Putin.
