‘He’s Always Crying!’ Trump Attacks Series of Foes in Rambling Speech to Supporters

President Donald Trump took aim at a host of political rivals while promising aggressive action on January 6 prosecutions in a rambling off-the-cuff speech to a crowd of supporters at the Capitol, following his inauguration ceremony.

Introduced by Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson, who pledged to advance Trump’s legislative agenda, the president wasted no time in attacking former President Joe Biden’s last moment decision to preemptively pardon several high profile figures he believed could be targeted in retribution by the Trump administration.

Biden’s pardons covered former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Anthony Fauci, retired Gen. Mark Milley, Liz Cheney as well as members of and witnesses to the congressional select committee that investigated the January 6 Capitol riot.

In a digression that laid out grievances Trump unleashed on those political foes, mocking them in turn.

“I was going to talk about the things that Joe did today with the pardons of people that were very, very guilty of very bad crimes, like the ‘unselect committee’ of political folks,” Trump said.

Trump began with a quip about former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley:

Why are we doing this? Why are we trying to help a guy like Milley? Why are we pardoning him? Terrible what he said. Why are we helping some of the people…

He then mocked two of his longtime Republican critics, former House lawmakers Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger. Both voted in favor of establishing the Select Committee.

Why are we helping some of the people… why are we helping Liz Cheney? Liz Cheney is a disaster. She’s a crying lunatic and Crying Adam Kinzinger. He’s a super cryer. I never saw the guy not crying. He’s always crying. I look at him…

He attacked the pair as warhawks who opposed him for not wanting “to kill people in wars”:

And I remember years ago, [Kinzinger] was actually on my side, and then one day, you know, when you don’t want to kill people in wars, they turn against you. Liz Cheney hated the concept of not going to war with everybody. ‘Let’s kill everybody. Let’s spend a lot of money on military equipment.’ You know where her father works, right?
