Hillary, Sanders Surrogates Duke It Out: Clintons ‘Insulting’ Young Activists!
The Republican race for the presidency has turned into a heated back-and-forth over party unity in the fall, while the Democrats are doing… pretty much the same thing.
Hillary Clinton surrogate and former Michigan governor Jennifer Granholm expressed concerns on CNN tonight about how character attacks from Bernie Sanders hurt the party overall, which is troubling given how critical it is that the Democrats unite and not do anything “that would be perceived as peeling away votes.”
But Sanders surrogate Ben Jealous said the bigger unity “threat” is how Hillary and Bill Clinton have “disrespected young activists repeatedly,” saying, “You cannot have people as respected as the Clintons repeatedly insulting Greenpeace activists, #BlackLivesMatter activists, and not have it have a real impact.”
Jealous said that Clinton has to be more willing to invest in the future of the Democratic party. Granholm shot back that she is doing that by the very virtue of helping more Democrats raise money, which Sanders isn’t doing so much.
