Horrific Footage Emerges After Driver Plows Into Crowd During Liverpool Premier League Victory Parade
A man in the UK has been arrested after a car plowed into a crowd of fans during Liverpool’s Premier League victory parade on Monday evening, injuring several pedestrians, police said.
Sky News and CNN reported the incident occurred just after 6 p.m. local time when thousands of soccer fans had gathered to celebrate the club’s first league title since 2020.
CNN and Sky News both reported police confirmed an arrest had been made after a male driver stopped at the scene and was detained.
Paramedics and officers were dispatched to the scene quickly and worked to assist victims.
A disturbing video purportedly of the moment the car began to strike fans was posted on X (WARNING, the clip is graphic):
“We are currently dealing with reports of a road traffic collision in Liverpool city centre,” a police spokesperson said, per Sky News. “We were contacted at just after 6pm today, Monday 26 May, following reports a car had been in collision with a number of pedestrians on Water Street. Emergency services are currently on the scene.”
A witness named Natasha Rinaldi told Sky News she heard screams.
“It was so loud. People sounded desperate. And then we looked at the window and we saw the car [had] run over people,” she said. “Then people started rushing to go after the driver and they tried to break the car. The police did everything to block and to push people away.”
Rinaldi concluded, “We could just hear screams and screams. We were very confused. Some of my friends were down there and the car was so near them. It was a horrible scene, nobody was expecting it.”
