‘It’s About Being Smart!’ O’Reilly Battles Dobbs, Varney for Defending Trump on Entry Ban
Bill O’Reilly got pretty heated with Lou Dobbs and Stu Varney tonight after they defended Donald Trump‘s Muslim entry ban. At the top of his show, O’Reilly bluntly told Trump it’s a terrible idea because it alienates the United States’ Muslim allies and insults an entire religion.
O’Reilly again made the same point, but Dobbs argued that both the Democrats and Republicans have failed in fighting the war on terror, so maybe Trump’s onto something. Varney added that Trump had very “strong” responses to O’Reilly.
O’Reilly cried, “Come on! Both of you must know geopolitically, to win a war against a decentralized enemy… you need as many people on the ground close to them as possible.”
Dobbs repeatedly frustrated O’Reilly by saying we need strong vetting, because O’Reilly believes that too. He shouted, “It’s about being smart!”
Varney responded, “Yes, it’s about being smart, but not necessarily in the way you think it is. It’s not being un-smart if you challenge these people!”
O’Reilly kept trying, but neither of them would budge. He predicted that Trump’s unfavorables would only go up after this.
