James Carville Calls Out Fox News on the Network Over Scant Epstein Coverage: ‘Everybody in the World Is Talking About Epstein’
Longtime Democratic Democratic strategist James Carville called out Fox News while on the network over its lack of Jeffrey Epstein coverage.
Epstein, who died in a jail cell in 2019, is in the news after President Donald Trump and his administration have done a 180 on releasing the government’s trove of files related to the sex trafficker. Earlier this month, the Department of Justice said that Epstein did not have a client list, a finding that directly contradicted a claim by Attorney General Pam Bondi, who in February said the list was in her possession.
Trump has largely sidestepped questions about Epstein in recent weeks. Fox News and other right-wing media outlets have tamped down their coverage of the Epstein files, which have still been covered on Fox News, though mainly during the network’s non-primetime hours. A Media Matters report published on Wednesday revealed that Fox News has mentioned Epstein far less than other cable news networks this week, and has given more airtime to unfounded MAGA allegations against former President Barack Obama and the 2016 election.
On Thursday, Carville appeared on Jesse Watters Primetime, where the Democrat name-dropped Epstein out of the gate. Host Jesse Watters began the interview by jokingly asking Carville about Hunter Biden becoming president after the former president’s son ripped Carville in an interview this week.
“What do you think about President Hunter Biden?” Watters asked.
“Look, everybody in the world is talking about Epstein, and Fox is still talking about Biden’s memory,” Carville said of the spate of stories the network has run about former President Joe Biden recently. “That’s how long ago, I can’t even remember, to tell you the truth, Jesse.”
“Well, do you wanna talk about Epstein?” the host asked.
“I don’t mind talking about it,” Carville replied.
The two men tabled Epstein talk for the time being before returning to the matter later in the interview, when Watters asked Carville if Democrats should want the Epstein files released, given that Epstein was an associate of Carville’s ex-employer, former President Bill Clinton, in addition to Trump.
“I don’t really know,” Carville said. “I don’t know what’s behind it.”
Later in the interview, Carville praised Fox News founder Rupert Murdoch after the media mogul was sued by Trump over a story in The Wall Street Journal last week.
Last week, The Wall Street Journal reported on the existence of a birthday letter from Trump to Epstein that included a drawing of a nude woman and an odd imaginary dialogue between the two men. Moments after the story dropped, Fox News host Laura Ingraham teased the report ahead of a commercial, but she did not mention it for the rest of her show.
