Jimmy Kimmel Roasts ‘Bootlickers’ at Fox & Friends with Supercut of Hosts Praising Trump Tariffs: ‘They Are Terrified of Him’
Jimmy Kimmel on Tuesday roasted the hosts of Fox & Friends trying to “spin” President Donald Trump’s tariffs into a positive despite worrying economic indicators.
Last week, Trump announced the implementation of steep tariffs with virtually all of the U.S.’s trade partners. The ultimate goal, according to Trump officials, is to reduce America’s reliance on other countries and bring back manufacturing jobs.
Since that announcement, however, the stock market has not responded well; and data suggests there is legitimate concern that the tariffs could plunge the country into an economic recession. Making matters worse that has China has announced multiple retaliatory tariffs — sending the U.S. into a trade war with one of the largest economies in the world.
On Jimmy Kimmel Live, the comedian revealed what he viewed as the one positive of this ordeal.
“These tariffs are so dumb, but there is a fun part,” he said. “The fun part is watching his groupies, the bootlickers on Fox & Friends, try to spin them as if they are a good thing.”
He then played a clip of Fox’s Brian Kilmeade explaining Trump’s strategy. In it, Kilmeade said:
He is staring them down Clint Eastwood-style in order to get the maximum deal possible — knowing that China is the main focus — but he’s gotten the world’s attention to reconfigure trade. Everybody’s paying attention now. Nobody can ignore it.
“Well, that is true,” Kimmel responded. “You know what else nobody can ignore? A homeless person waving a full diaper over his head. That doesn’t make it a positive!”
“Fox has been working very hard to pretend that what Trump is doing is good for us because they’re terrified of him. He turns on them [and] next thing you know, Newsmax is on top,” he continued.
Kimmel then introduced a supercut of clips from other networks detailing the economic concerns. In between them were clips of Fox hosts insisting the exact opposite.
