Joe Scarborough Blasts ‘Political Coward’ Lindsey Graham for Opposing Foreign Aid Bill: ‘Can You Imagine Being That Weak?”
Joe Scarborough was ruthless in his treatment of Senator Lindsey Graham for opposing a foreign aid bill and doing the bidding of former President Donald Trump.
At issue is a foreign aid bill passed early Tuesday morning in the US Senate after an all-nighter of negotiations that will ultimately lead to the sending of the $95 million in approved aid to the House, where Speaker Mike Johnson has already signaled that he will not bring it to vote because it does not include any border policy, which he previously dismissed as unnecessary.
During late Monday arguments on the Senate floor, Graham argued for giving the aid to Ukraine in the form of a loan which will need to be paid back, echoing Trump’s statements at a political rally over the weekend. “Give them the money, and if they can pay it back, they pay it back,” Trump said Saturday, “but if they go to another nation, they drop us like a dog.”
“Oklahoma Republican James Lankford put together, in a bipartisan way, the toughest border security bill in the past 30 years,” Scarborough opened. “Some say the toughest border security bill ever, and they were going to pass it. And then Donald Trump told them not to pass it. And so Lindsey Graham went from wanting to pass it to not wanting to pass it.”
“Now Lindsey Graham [is] completely betraying, his past, completely betraying the memory of John McCain, completely betraying the people of Ukraine, completely betraying the people of Israel, completely betraying the people of Taiwan,” Scarborough said. “Why? Why? All because Donald Trump told him so.”
“Can you imagine being that weak?” the Morning Joe host sneered. “I can’t. I can’t imagine being such a political coward that you would betray everything you ever believed because a failed reality TV show host told you t.”
“And let’s just be really clear here because Donald Trump is sounding like, as usual, a complete idiot, and Lindsey Graham knows better than to accept the idiot’s argument on giving money to Ukraine, giving money to Israel, giving money, to Taiwan to defend themselves,” he continued.
“It was Lindsey Graham and other Republicans who always said, you give this money to help our allies because. You know, ‘it’s better to fight them over there than fight them over here,’ is what Lindsay would always say,” mocking Graham’s southern drawl. “And I’m not going to give you a history lesson, but this same type of idiocy was going around after world well after World War One.”
Despite his promise NOT to give viewers a history lesson, Scarborough proceeded with said history lesson.
