Joe Scarborough: Everything Conservatives Predicted About Obamacare Has Come True

After the Barack Obama administration announced Monday that healthcare premiums were expected to rise by double-digit percentages, the panel of MSNBC’s Morning Joe noted just how prescient Republican criticisms of the Affordable Care Act really were.

Host Willie Geist said that things looked bleak for Donald Trump‘s electoral chances but there were still ways he could close the gap. “He does have an issue he can use if he’s smart, which is this Obamacare story about premiums going up 25% in certain plans, 22% in other plans, and choice shrinking. All things predicted by conservatives many years ago,” he said.

“Everything conservatives predicted coming true with Obamacare,” his co-host Joe Scarborough agreed.

“If he uses those and pushes that button in swing states, maybe that impacts the race,” Geist said.

BBC America’s Katty Kay agreed: “You’re right, Willie, I hear it out on the campaign trail a lot. I’m going to go straight down to Orlando after this to go to a Trump rally. I’m sure he’ll bring up the health care premiums.”

“It’s devastating to middle class families how much health care premiums have gone up,” she said. “He can make traction on that, but he has to make such big numbers in places like Nevada, it’s very hard to see how he gets to that 270.”
