Jon Stewart Cannot Contain His Glee About Donald Trump Moderating A Debate
Yesterday was a rough day for Jon Stewart. He had to accept that, with a pokémon-colored flourish, Herman Cain was gone forever for the next few weeks until the news cycle wants him back. But today he, he had even more to be happy about: the return of Donald Trump as a political actor, both as a moderator and a potential presidential candidate. It was too much for a political comedian, he explained.

Showing once again “his writers'” reaction to Cain departing (a bunch of movie clips of people be extravagantly upset), he then looked over to find Trump in the news once again. “Sometimes,” he told the audience, “when God closes a door, he opens a window– and, sometimes, outside that door is a circus peanut wearing a badger.” The idea of Trump returning to the scene was particularly good because “regular Republicans, the ones we used to hate, are downright scared.”

For most of the rest of the segment, Stewart didn’t even make many jokes– he just played clips of Trump getting angry at various people (Karl Rove, Chuck Todd) and exclaiming, “I love this guy!” Needless to say, the compilation of movie clips airing over Donald Trump was significantly less gloomy than the Cain goodbye reel.
