Jon Stewart Exasperated By Democrats Failure to Contain Trump’s ‘Grab Em By the P*ssy’ Governing Style
The Daily Show host Jon Stewart expressed his utter exasperation at Democrats for their failure to contain President Donald Trump’s “grab ‘em by the pussy” governing style, pointing out that everything the president has achieved so far was by democratic consent.
Speaking on Monday night’s show on Comedy Central, the comedian mused that “for now” some of what liberals would find Trump’s “most objectionable actions” have taken place “almost entirely within our design democratic system.”
To prove his point, the host cited the confirmation of defense secretary Pete Hegseth.
Despite claims of meritocracy, Trump has put forth some of the least LinkedIn people you could imagine. I don’t know what responsible hiring process you can create that looks at [Hegseth as suitable for the role].
Stewart ran back a clip from Hegseth, a former Fox & Friends Weekend host, drinking alcohol during the Fox News New Year’s Eve broadcast.
Mocking Trump’s voice, Stewart cut in: “‘Who is that guy? I want him leading defense.’ And how did this individual who was never so much as successfully managed a Waffle House pop up, go to run the 3 million people Department of Defense?”
Rounding on Hegseth’s confirmation process, amid allegations of past financial mismanagement at veteran’s groups and personal misconduct, Stewart retold how Trump’s pick was approved.
But he wasn’t foisted upon us by a dictator, there was no authoritarian end run, no royal edict. This shit happened to us as designed! Advise, but mostly consent, passed through the Armed Services Committee, put through a Senate vote. Three Republicans, of course, made a show of it because they knew they could lose three. It was a fucking performance and JD Vance broke the tie – democratically.
Trump’s using the almost absolute power we have constitutionally granted him and the Republicans because this is Trump’s theory and governance. He’s already laid it out to not-president [host Billy] Bush in 2005. Back when he was still Accessing Hollywood.
Stewart played back the infamous Access Hollywood tape in which Trump mused how he would seduce a married woman and that when “you’re a star” you can do “anything you want” including “grab ‘em by the pussy.” This, Stewart said, was Trump’s “governing philosophy.”
That’s his governing philosophy for all of it. Appointing people, firing people, writing executive orders, taking Greenland, making Wikipedia-like edits to the literal globe.
But unfortunately, as of now, he’s pretty much just democratically grabbing our pussy.
Yeah. Yeah. We said, yeah, he has the consent of the people. For God’s sake, his deportation orders are so popular they have collabs.
Stewart proceeded to mock Dr. Phil for having joined Trump border czar Tom Homan on an anti-immigration raid in Chicago on Sunday. Concluding he urged Democrats to learn from Trump and “convince” the electorate to give that same power to them.
Look, I really hope the Democrats figure out a way to contain this guy. The question is probably not how dare he, though, the question should be, what are you learning from this? How would you use this power? What’s your contract with America?
Democrats exist outside of him. Tell people what you would do with the power that Trump is wielding and then convince us to give that power to you.
