Jon Stewart Has a Field Day Mocking Dr. Phil on ICE Raids: ‘I Know That Little Egghead Anywhere!’
The Daily Show host Jon Stewart mocked Dr. Phil after a deportee recognized him as he tagged along with President Donald Trump’s border czar Tom Homan on immigration raids across Chicago.
The celebrity shrink, real name Phil McGraw, joined Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents on a targeted operation conducted Sunday.
On Monday night, Stewart tore into McGraw for appearing surprised during a bizarre interaction with one of the detainees, identified as Sam from Thailand, who said his name.
“How do you know me?” McGraw replied, before the man replied that he’d seen his show on TV.
Stewart, after rolling back the clip, unleashed with a mock southern accent like McGraw’s as he roleplayed both sides of the interaction as the audience laughed.
Yeah. ‘How do you know me?’ You’ve been in one thing. ‘How do you know I’m Dr. Phil?’ ‘Because you’re on the Dr. Phil Show! You’re Dr. Phil!’ ‘How do you know me?’ ‘Weren’t you in Goodfellas?’
No! You’re Dr. Phil! I know that little egghead anywhere. Bald mustache, Southern drawl…
Continuing, Stewart cited one of McGraw’s most combative guests from 2016, Danielle Bregoli, who threatened to fight him after the show with a phrase that went viral online.
Look at that picture! I guess. Dr. Phil, finally, cashed someone outside. How about that? Let me just finish. We’re almost done…
Pivoting to news of Trump’s latest proposal to “clean out” Gaza by having neighboring Arab nations take in Palestinian refugees, Stewart posed the idea that McGraw be sent to Gaza as residents are made to leave.
He joked: “[Trump’s] so emboldened he wants to start deporting people from other people’s countries. You know, Dr. Phil will be down in Gaza. ‘How do you know me? What? How do you know me sir?’”
Mocking a reply by a Palestinian, Stewart replied: “‘Habibi, I don’t have a television. I don’t know. I don’t know how, habibi.’”
