Fox & Friends co-host Brian Kilmeade shared concern with White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt over the appearance of a quid pro quo between the Qatari royal family and President Donald Trump after news broke that the Middle Eastern nation might gift Trump a luxury jetliner to be used as Air Force One over the weekend.
ABC News dropped a bombshell report Sunday morning that President Trump is accepting a $400 million luxury plane that the Department of Justice insists does not constitute “bribery.” The exclusive report from ABC’s Jonathan Karl and Katherine Faulders says Trump is going to take a “flying palace” from a foreign government — a plane that he toured in February — for use as an Air Force One:
Since then, Trump has received a backlash of criticism from even his most loyal defenders, including Trump conspiracy-whisperer Laura Loomer, who admitted she was “so disappointed” in her hero.
In a social media post, Trump defended his decision to accept the $400 million luxury plane. Kilmeade remained unconvinced as of Monday morning, at least judging by his reaction to an earlier Lucas Tomlinson report, when he exclaimed, “Do they allow that?!”
So, in this context, Kilmeade confronted Leavitt about the gift, prompting her to reply that “any donation to this government is always done in full compliance with the law, and we commit ourselves to the utmost transparency, and we will continue to do that.”
“Do you worry that if they give us something like this, they want something in return?” Kilmeade followed up.
“Absolutely not,” Leavitt insisted, “Because they know President Trump and they know he only works with the interests of the American public in mind.”
