Krauthammer: Obama’s Reaction While ‘Bodies Are Still Warm’ Was ‘Knee-Jerk’
During yesterday’s panel on Special Report with Bret Baier, Charles Krauthammer was not impressed with President Obama‘s “premature” impassioned response speech to the Oregon Shooting.
“I don’t doubt that the president’s statement was 100 percent sincere and 100 percent knee-jerk,” Krauthammer said. “He has no idea what the gun is, how it was obtained, who the person is, and what the person’s motive is.”
It was during this speech that Obama blasted the seeming inaction on gun control despite the alarming regularity of violent rampages across America. While the president said that this was an issue that “should be politicized,” Krauthammer stuck to it and said that it was too early for such statements without the full details.
“To make a pronouncement at this time, when, I hate to say it, the bodies are still warm and the wounded are now in surgery, I think is at least premature,” Krauthammer said.
While the Sheriff’s Office has continued to be measured in its release of information, it has been confirmed that the shooter’s name was Chris Harper Mercer, that he legally obtained the guns he used in the rampage, and that he is currently being investigated by federal authorities.
