Krauthammer on GOP Plan to Impeach IRS Head: Everything They Touch Has ‘Failed or Backfired’

Charles Krauthammer said on Fox News’ Special Report tonight that the House GOP plan to impeach the head of the IRS is a “waste of energy” because their record on going after the Obama administration hasn’t been very good.

House Republicans are planning to impeach IRS Commissioner John Koskinen for covering up information, not complying with a subpoena, and misleading the public.

After Bret Baier pointed out that this likely won’t be able to get through Congress, Krauthammer said, “This is not going to end well… Republicans in the Congress have shown they have no ability to conduct successful investigations of this administration. Everything they have touched has failed or backfired.”

He pointed to Benghazi last week among the examples and said if Republicans really want to deal with the IRS, they have to win the White House, bring in a new commissioner, and then get an unbiased Justice Department to look into it.
