Krauthammer: Rand Paul Is GOP Candidate ‘Closest to Obama’ on Many Issues

On Fox News tonight, Charles Krauthammer made an observation that, no doubt, will be repeated by others during the 2016 campaign: on several issues, paramountly foreign policy, Rand Paul is “closest to Obama” than any other Republican presidential contender.

Krauthammer said while Paul’s foreign policy views were a “fresh approach” in the GOP years ago, now that “the Obama foreign policy has collapsed,” what Krauthammer deemed Paul’s more “isolationist” views aren’t really good to have now.

“Whatever name you want to put on Paul’s position,” he said, “he is, without a doubt, the one Republican who’ll be running who is the closest to Obama in his view of foreign policy.”

He said Paul is to the left of Obama on the NSA and drones and the like, and sounds a lot like Obama in presenting a dichotomy between war and peace.
