‘Little Richie Rich’: Ex-GOP Congressman Rips Trump For ‘Ditching’ Workers To Drink ‘Diet Coke’
Former GOP Congressman David Jolly drew a sharp contrast between the Labor Day activities of Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump, drawing laughter from MSNBC host Nicole Wallace by comparing the Republican nominee to “little Richie Rich.”
Speaking on MSNBC Deadline White House, Jolly slammed Trump for what he described as a lackluster display on a day meant to honor the American workforce.
Jolly, never shy about his disdain for the former president, mocked Trump as Richie Rich, the fictional son of a billionaire industrialist who lives a luxurious life in the 1994 Macauley Culkin-led film of the same name.
I also think [voters] see today’s a perfect example, a remarkable contrast between the candidates. I actually love this kind of holiday Labor Day setup we’re looking at between Harris and Trump. First, the optics of Donald Trump sitting like little Richie Rich or I guess old Richie Rich at the golf club in Palm Beach that he owns, he’s sitting there by himself, ringing his bell for his Diet Coke.
The ex-congressman lambasted Trump for sitting back on Labor Day, rather than engaging with the working-class voters he claims to champion.
In contrast, Jolly praised the Democratic ticket for their active participation in Labor Day events and highlighted how Vice President Harris spent the day “out there with raucous crowds of working-class voters across the country.”
Trump, meanwhile, used the holiday to attack Harris on Monday from Mar-A-Lago on TruthSocial, claiming that “all Americans” were “suffering this holiday weekend” due to her “failed leadership.”
