Maher: Obama Probably the ‘Worst’ President on Press Freedom
Bill Maher told documentarian Laura Poitras tonight that he’s shocked by how President Obama has been probably the “worst” president on the issue of press freedom.
Maher and Poitras agreed Obama hasn’t exactly been the best on surveillance issues, despite him claiming publicly he was totally going to get around to the stuff Snowden forced people to care about. And then, Maher observed, “I don’t understand why he is perhaps the worst president we’ve had on clamping down on the press.”
Maher did ask, however, what the line is on government holding certain information, because, he said, it needs “some secrets” to hold onto that the public shouldn’t know about.
