Maher: Trump ‘Largely a Result of Backlash to Political Correctness’

Screen Shot 2016-01-22 at 11.28.46 PMBill Maher talked with fellow comedian Seth MacFarlane tonight about how Donald Trump is “largely a result of backlash to political correctness.”

MacFarlane said the rise of social media has been both a blessing and a curse, and the annoying part is that worthwhile causes to “get on the bandwagon” over get largely dismissed when everything becomes an annoying microaggression.

Maher brought up something an audience member did minutes ago when he snarked, “Or boo a joke about race.”

MacFarlane said the left has to be smarter about picking its battles and making sure that, basically, they’re fighting for tolerance without being dicks.
