Marjorie Taylor Greene Says She ‘Yelled’ at Mike Johnson for His ‘Complete and Total Utter Failure’

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) claimed on Wednesday that she “yelled” at Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) over the phone for his “complete and total” recent failures.

During an interview with NewsNation, Greene acknowledged that while the Democratic Party would likely have “the upper-hand” going into the 2026 midterm elections, “Republicans would be the ones handing Democrats the victory by not passing our agenda, and the fact that the House has been closed for six weeks now is a complete and total utter failure, and that’s on the speaker of the House.”

“While the rest of America is going to work every single day, you’re going to work, people in this building are going to work, Mike Johnson is telling us to stay home and not do our jobs,” the congresswoman continued, before revealing that she recently gave Johnson a piece of her mind during a Republican Party conference call.

Greene said, “I yelled at him on the phone on our GOP conference call, [asking,] ‘Where is our health plan? It’s nonexistent. Democrats created this problem years ago, but Republicans have never fixed it.’ And I said, ‘We need to be back at work and not being in session is basically pathetic.'”

Asked what Johnson had to say in response, Greene complained, “He gave me the same talking points he gives to the press every single day.”

“I get the text messages every single day that we have got to do something to make health insurance more affordable,” she concluded. “They are appalled and outraged, and they’re sending me, ‘Oh my health insurance is going to go from $800 a month and it’s going up to $3,200 a month.’ These are the messages, but we’re getting the phone calls coming in. I even have colleagues texting me now, ‘You’re right, we’ve gotta do something.'”

Greene has repeatedly blamed Johnson for the ongoing government shutdown, protesting that “Republicans have no plan” to get Congress back in session.
