Matthews Slams GOP: Something’s Wrong with a Party When You Can’t Even Agree On a Leader

Chris Matthews tonight said there is something very wrong with the Republican party if it can’t even decide on who its leader should be.

Between the Speaker drama last week and the fact that none of the elected officials in the GOP field are polling close to the outsider candidates, Matthews said, “It seems to me that there’s something wrong with the party when they can’t pick a leader.”

He said choosing a leader is the most basic thing any party can do, and if that’s suddenly in question, “how can you argue you’re the same team?”

Matthews surmised that the House conservatives who fought back against Kevin McCarthy just want a Speaker who will say yes to “every crazy idea.”
