Meghan McCain on Trump Going After Leaking ‘Traitors’: Leaks Happen ‘When You’re Not Inspiring Loyalty’

President Trump called leakers “traitors” yesterday amid the recent commotion between the White House and John McCain, so naturally, Meghan McCain had a few things to say about it with her colleagues on The View.

As the ladies laughed at the self-contradicting aspects of Trump’s remarks on leakers, McCain said the leaks aren’t really so fake because she really did receive an apologetic call from Kelly Sadler.

“Let me tell you, as the person involved with this and got the phone call, she said it. She admitted to it, so that part is 100% right, and I know because she called me and told me.”

Joy Behar noted that Sadler has yet to offer a public apology for her remarks, but she doubts it’ll happen because “if she apologizes in public, then Trump has to apologize to [McCain’s] father in public, and he can’t do that either.” From there, McCain said that her dad never had Trump’s problems with leakers, and leaking is usually a sign of bad politicians who cannot inspire loyalty from their team.

“I will say one thing…My dad’s office, they never had a leaking problem, and you have leaking problems when you don’t have loyalty to the principal, when you’re not inspiring loyalty,” McCain said. “It’s always a sign of a bad campaign or a bad candidate or a bad politician when you have rampant leaking problems, because it shows that you don’t have loyalty to the principal or the message. You have to look in your own house on that one.”
