Mika Brzezinski Accuses Fox News of Ignoring Trump Fomenting Violence Among His Supporters: ‘They Don’t Cover This’

MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski accused Fox News of not paying more attention to the aggression and violent rhetoric former President Donald Trump incites among his supporters.

Brzezinski made her comments during Morning Joe on Tuesday — as part of a review of NBC News’ coverage on Trump supporters who attended his Iowa campaign event over the weekend. These Trump supporters were all in on the ex-president’s recent suggestion that General Mark Milley deserves to be executed for telling the Chinese that Trump wouldn’t attack them during the chaotic end of his presidency.

“Treason is treason,” said one Trump supporter. “There’s only one cure for treason: Being put to death.”

Another Trump supporter asked, “Why was [Milley] not in there before a firing squad within a month?”

Brzezinski brought up news sources favored by Trump’s supporters which consistently either take his side or ignore his shocking comments altogether. This prompted her to reference how former White House chief of staff John Kelly just went on the record to confirm Trump’s insulting past comments about America’s servicemen and women.

“They don’t believe it was ever said because it’s not covered in the worlds where they get the news,” Brzezinski said. “That’s a huge problem. It’s not something we can ignore.”

Joe Scarborough argued Trump supporters could see through Trump’s lies if they were to check other sources, but Brzezinski said they’re not going to do that.

“There’s Newsmax, there’s this, there’s that, also Fox, which I watch a lot. They don’t cover this. That’s what they watch,” she said.

“Fox doesn’t say that Mark Milley should be executed,” Scarborough responded.

“Yeah, but they don’t cover this,” Brzezinski said. “They don’t cover this as news, and they don’t think it’s shocking.”

Brzezinski added that whenever a left-leaning figure manages to bring up these kinds of topics on Fox News, “it’s completely ignored. These people don’t get information, and they don’t get a sense of context.”

According to a search of the media monitoring service Snapstream, Fox News mentioned Trump’s comments about Gen. Milley on three different shows in recent days (Thursday on Special Report, and Sunday on MediaBuzz and Fox News Live). They also did cover Trump’s comments on their website.

Brzezinski’s remarks come days after the Wall Street Journal, which Rupert Murdoch owns along with Fox News, released an editorial board op-ed that called out conservatives for ignoring Trump’s “unhinged” comments.
