Mika Brzezinski Goes OFF on Texas AG’s ‘Cruel’ Threats Against Legal Path to Abortion: ‘So Desperate to Mimic Trump’
Mika Brzezinski went off against Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s threat to prosecute doctors after a judge legally permitted a woman to have an abortion in the state due to a fatal fetus diagnosis.
Brzezinski started the week off for Morning Joe by looking at the Texas Supreme Court’s block on a district court ruling in favor of 31-year-old Kate Cox, who is 20 weeks pregnant. According to Cox’s lawsuit, her child has been diagnosed with a condition that has rendered its post-birth survival impossible while jeopardizing her health; thus, she seeks an emergency exemption for Texas’ ban on abortions from the moment of conception.
Last week, Paxton got involved with Cox’s case by demanding a reversal of the lower court’s ruling and threatening to hold doctors in Texas criminally liable if they help Cox go through with the abortion. As Brzezinski recapped all of this, she compared Paxton to Donald Trump by bringing up the Texas AG’s legal troubles while calling him a “desperate” copycat of the former president.
Paxton is so desperate to mimic Trump, so desperate for Trump’s support, that he led a lawsuit in 2020 to challenge the results of that year’s election in Trump’s favor. The Supreme Court, of course, quickly threw that out, but that’s how desperate he is.
The man is so desperate to mimic Trump that he behaves in a cruel, brutal fashion, and won’t back down until an ill woman is physically and emotionally destroyed. That woman, Kate Cox, and her health is in danger because of Ken Paxton, who is using laws against abortion… and is ensuring her suffering is the most it can be. We’ve gotta wake up! We need to wake the hell up!
Brzezinski further outlined the depth of Cox’s predicament while driving her point that “an aging, white, far-right Republican male believes he knows what should happen with Kate’s body. He would prefer that she carry her non-viable fetus to term, consequences be dammed.”
“That’s Ken’s choice,” she said. “Ken has choices. Kate does not.”
