Morning Joe Host Rips Trump’s Memorial Day ‘Missive,’ Refuses to Read It On-Air

Morning Joe host Jonathan Lemire flat-out refused to read all of President Donald Trump’s Memorial Day “missive” – rebuking the post that “includes nothing of the sacrifice” of military personnel.

Trump’s blistering screed, posted to his Truth Social platform Monday morning, attacked “SCUM” Democrats for destroying the country and “USA HATING” judges for opposition to his immigration crackdown. Trump deleted his initial post, resharing later with typos amended and a rhetorical switch of direction at the end to promise, “AMERICA WILL SOON BE SAFE AND GREAT AGAIN!”

Lemire, hosting the show in the absence of Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, sighed and refused to read the post in full, directing viewers to Trump’s Truth Social page instead, and jibed it was indicative of “the president’s mindset” on the somber holiday.

A shot there of the Tomb of the Unknown, which is in Arlington National Cemetery just across the Potomac from Washington, D.C. President Trump is expected to go there later today to lay a wreath, but he has started his Memorial Day, as he often does on these holidays, with a lengthy all caps social media post.

We should note this post includes nothing of the sacrifice made by the U.S. armed forces at home and abroad, but rather: ‘Happy Memorial Day to all, including the scum that spent the last four years trying to destroy our country.’ And it goes on from there about immigration and in particular, a scathing broadside against the judges, the federal judges, including the Supreme Court that has tried to rein in his immigration policies.
