Morning Joe Rails Against Trump’s Puerto Rican Death Toll Conspiracy: ‘He’s A Very Small Man’

The cast and crew of Morning Joe are on location in Oxford, Mississippi today. And while the studio may be different, the political opinions provided have not changed.

Today’s topic? Trump’s solipsistic comment on the Puerto Rican fatalities that came as a result of two Hurricanes that hit the U.S. Territory last year.

Some context: President Trump is facing criticism from Democrats and several Republicans after yesterday’s tweet that questioned the number of deaths attributed to hurricane Maria last year. Trump claimed via Twitter “3,000 people did not die in the two hurricanes in Puerto Rico. When I left the island, they had anywhere from 6 to 18 deaths.” The president argued the report puts the death tolls of 3,000 was done by Democrats to make him look bad.

After discussing the political impact of the comment that has largely drawn bipartisan debunking, Mike Barnicle summed it up best “Let’s say I am running in the state of Mississippi, you got a good economy. Unemployment is down and the future looks brighter than today does and all of a sudden the president of the United States proves once again that he’s a very small man.

Regular viewers of Morning Joe tune in for consistently entertaining opinions on the current state of American politics. Another consistency the show offers is the opinion that President Trump often shows is that he may not have the standard of mental fitness for the office he holds. And in that regard, though the location was different today, the takes were no less hot.
