Morning Joe Slams Darrell Issa’s ‘Pathetic Display’
Just after lambasting Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) for comments “beneath his office,” Willie Geist and Morning Joe co-host Donny Deutsch turned to House Oversight Committee Chair Darrell Issa (R-CA), who cut off his colleague and ranking committee member Elijah Cummings (D-MD) during an IRS hearing yesterday and abruptly walked out of the chamber.
“That’s a big black-eye for Darrell Issa,” Deutsch said. “To just basically go off procedural things, and basically — he buried the lede. The whole IRS thing gets lost in the Republicans, one more time, looking like the ‘party of no.’ That was, to me, a pathetic display on Issa’s part.”

“You wonder why people hate Washington?” Geist asked. “Look at the two clips played this morning from Congress. A Democratic leader, Harry Reid, calling people un-American and making cocaine puns, and then you have the Republican leader of the House Oversight Committee shutting down a very respected Democratic colleague who simply wanted to ask the question.”
“That’s a great point,” host Joe Scarborough said. “While Harry Reid is going around calling guys that give millions and millions of dollars to hospitals and art institutions, [Issa’s] sitting there with, what, an 8%, 9% approval rating in Congress? For good reason.”
The show then played out to commercial break with “Glory Days.”
