MSNBC Host Defends Offering Some Rare Praise For Trump

MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle defended praising President Donald Trump’s political skill on her show Wednesday night when confronted on social media by an angry viewer.

On Thursday, a social media user wrote, “Stephanie Ruhle made a disturbing comment toward the end of her show last night. She said tRUMP is the most successful politician in her lifetime. I don’t consider a rich person getting into politics strictly to make more money and destroy our democracy and the white house.”

Ruhle hit back on X, writing, “That is not what I said. I said he is the most skilled politician.” She added:

And given that his policy agenda hurts his own base

He continues to make moves putting his own interests above the country

And was elected AGAIN after 1/6

Yes… that is a skilled politician

On her show, Ruhle agreed with a guest who praised Trump’s resilience in politics and warned Democrats to never count him out. She said Trump is the most “skilled politician of our lifetime.”

Turning to another of her guests, Ruhle added, “You can’t say – you are running for office, and you could despise Donald Trump. You could say he’s a hypocrite. You could say he’s the worst person in the world, but he’s an extraordinarily gifted politician.”

Daniel Koh, a Democrat running for Congress in Massachusetts, replied, “Well, I think it’s really important that we don’t underestimate him and that every time we think that he’s done, he somehow rises like a phoenix. And so we need to keep the fight on him and we need to keep pressure on him. Gavin Newsom, again, not to go back to the previous block, but Gavin Newsom has put a playbook out that is clearly effective, as is the message around affordability. We have to keep both of those top of mind. If we do, we keep winning.”

“You know, he watches the show and he’s gonna love to hear Donald Trump rises like a phoenix,” Ruhle concluded.
