MSNBC Host Shuts Down Trump Supporter: ‘What You Just Said is Actually Not Accurate’
Viewers of MSNBC weekend political news show AM Joy are becoming increasingly accustomed to host Joy Reid sternly keeping conservatives guests “in line,” and Saturday’s episode was not am exception. In a segment devoted to the ongoing Donald Trump “pay-for-play” scandal involving Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, Reid scored Republican Party official Peter Feaman, who was at the Pam Bondi fundraiser that was hosted at Trump’s resort at a steep discount.
Instead of dishing on the fundraiser, though, Feaman began attacking Hillary Clinton and her involvement with the charitable Clinton Foundation, so Reid cut him off, gave him another chance, then cut him off again:
Joy Reid: Actually, Peter, that story, what you just said is actually not accurate — hold on a second, Peter. I asked you about a fund-raiser that you attended and you pivoted to talking points about the Clinton Foundation which aren’t even accurate. I’m going to ask you about the event you attended. You’re the only one at this virtual table who can tell us about that fund-raiser. I’m going to give you one more opportunity to do so.
Peter Feaman: I was there. I’ve been to hundreds of fund-raisers. Rudy Giuliani spoke. He was tremendous as usual. Pam Bondi is a rock star down in Florida.
Joy Reid: Does it trouble you —
Peter Feaman: It was very well attended because she’s so popular.
Joy Reid: Does it trouble you the donations were both shaded in terms of putting the wrong foundation names, he recently had to pay a fine over it, and that it was given by the Trump Foundation, not by Trump himself and it came at a time when her office had decided not to investigate Trump University, does that trouble you as a donor?
Peter Feaman: It troubles me a lot less than what we see with the Clinton Foundation…
Joy Reid: Okay, your talking point are pristine, sir. I think you’ve done what you came to do as a surrogate.
True to her word, Reid did not return to Feaman for the duration of the segment.
