MSNBC Stars Psaki And Hayes Stunned By RFK’s Bonkers Hearing: ‘Performing’ Just For Trump

MSNBC host and former Biden White House press secretary Jen Psaki and fellow host Chris Hayes marveled at the “performance” of Trump Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. at a bonkers Senate hearing.

Kennedy spent several hours being bombarded with questions from both sides of the aisle at a hearing before the Senate Finance Committee on Thursday. The HHS secretary was defiant and combative throughout the hearing as senators grilled him about his fringe medical opinions and the policy decisions they have driven.

During the show toss on Thursday’s edition of MSNBC’s The Briefing with Jen Psaki, Hayes and Psaki expressed shock at Kennedy’s antics, and accused him of performing for the “audience of one” that is President Donald Trump:

CHRIS HAYES, MSNBC HOST, “ALL IN”: That is “ALL IN” on this Thursday night.

The Briefing with Jen Psaki starts right now.

Good evening, Jen.

JEN PSAKI, MSNBC HOST: Hey, Chris.

I feel like you and I watch, I don’t even know, hundreds of different hearings between the two of us, probably. And today, sometimes you watch them — today was one of these examples — where you were like, does this guy know the microphone is on? And, like, all of us out here can hear him? And these things are easy to check if he’s stating facts?

HAYES: You know, this is the thing that was so striking to me about the hearing was, even people that are at a certain level, there is a kind of deference they have when they’re in that room, like to the institution, to this space, Bobby’s got none of it.

PSAKI: None.

HAYES: It’s just like, I don’t — like the total smug, glib, I don’t need you people, was pretty shocking. It’s a high bar for that and he really crossed, I’ve seen really from any witness a long time.

PSAKI: I mean, part of it I think and this is sort of a dark theory, but I thinking right now, is that he and Trump are sort of codependent, right? I mean, Trump loves the fact that he’s a Kennedy, and maybe was a Democrat at one time, and he’s more relevant than he’d ever be under the administration of any party at any time. So, they kind of need each other and therefore, here we are.

HAYES: Yeah, that’s the only person he’s performing for in that context.

PSAKI: Exactly.

Well, Chris, have a great night. I’ll see you tomorrow.

HAYES: You, too.

PSAKI: All right. As we’ve just been talking about, and many of you may have watched a lot of this, too, and if you haven’t, we’re going to show a fair amount of it.

But, today, Trump’s health and human services secretary, RFK, Jr. showed the country once again that he is not just a raving conspiracy theorist, and he definitely is one of those. He is also a pathological liar.
