Newsmax Host Reads Disclaimer After Trump Rants About Voter Fraud: ‘Network Believes the Results Were Legal and Final’

Newsmax host Carl Higbie punctuated a speech by former President Donald Trump in South Carolina by stating it is his network’s position that the results of the 2020 election were “legal and final.”

Speaking in Rock Hill the day before Saturday’s South Carolina primary, Trump played his greatest hits, including his false claims of election fraud in the 2020 presidential election. Trump accused the Department of Justice of refusing “to investigate egregious acts of voting irregularities and frauds.”

Many conservative media outlets ran with Trump’s bogus election fraud claims – especially in the days and weeks following the contest. According to one false storyline, Dominion Voting Systems helped rig the election for Joe Biden. That claim was repeated by guests and hosts on Fox News and Newsmax. Dominion sued both networks. Fox settled the lawsuit last year for $787.5 million. Dominion’s case against Newsmax is pending.

After Trump’s speech, which Newsmax aired in its entirety, Higbie greeted viewers.

“I never get tired of that guy,” he said before adding a caveat from a sheet of paper he was holding up. “The president mentioned in his speech the 2020 elections. Newsmax as a network believes the results were legal and final.”

Trump is currently under indictment in four jurisdictions. Two of those cases involve his efforts to overturn the election. After the election, Trump pressured officials in states he lost to subvert the results. Later, he unsuccessfully urged his vice president to refuse to certify the results in Congress.
