Obamas to ABC: We Might Stay in D.C. After Presidency Ends
In an interview with ABC’s Barbara Walters, President Obama indicated his family might remain as residents of Washington, D.C., even after his second term ends.
According to the Obamas, the decision to stay will be based on their youngest daughter Sasha, who will be a high school sophomore when he vacates the White House in January 2016. Her preferences will be given a “big say” in the family’s decision, the president said.
“You know we gotta make sure that she’s doin’ well,” Obama explained, “until she goes off to college.”
The president added that his family will be given a great deal of weight in the decision-making because they “have made a lot of sacrifices on behalf of my cockamamie ideas, the running for office and things.”
As TPM reports, if the Obamas stay in D.C. after his presidency, he would be the first president to do so since Woodrow Wilson in 1921.
