‘Oh She Did Actually’: Fox Host Corrects Himself When Slamming Democrat For Not Condemning Racist Sign

Fox News host Brian Kilmeade interviewed Republican Virginia gubernatorial candidate Winsome Earle-Sears on Friday and attacked her Democratic opponent, Abigail Spanberger, for not condemning a racist sign, which Spanberger had in fact condemned.

Earle-Sears spoke at a school board meeting on Thursday, in which the discussion of the school’s transgender bathroom policy was going to be discussed amid threats by the Trump administration to cut federal funding unless gender neutral bathrooms are eliminated.

Activists protested outside the meeting, with one holding up a sign that read, “Hey Winsome, if trans can’t share your bathroom, then Blacks can’t share my water fountain.”

Kilmeade discussed the issue and said, “They’re going after you personally and about your background. Essentially, these 5 Virginia schools are at risk now because they refuse to budge on losing hundreds of millions of dollars. It’s being evaluated. The moment you’re trying to prevent that is lieutenant governor while trying to be the next governor.”

“So I’m elected to represent everyone, even those who hate me, because this is what we’re about. This is America. It’s this wonderful country. I’m always amazed at how wonderful she is. And so I am there trying to protect everyone’s children: Democrats’ children, Independents’ children, Republican children. They’re all children. They’re vulnerable,” Earle-Sears said, adding:

And our young girls are most vulnerable when they’re nude in the locker room, when they are nude in the bathrooms. And, you know, we’ve had schools up here—one school in particular—who is one of the– found to be one of violators of Title IX, where they had a boy dressed as a girl, biological male dressed as girl, in the bathrooms. Raped one child, didn’t tell the parent, didn’t say anything to any of the other parents, and sent him on his way to reassign him to another school, where he summarily proceeded to rape another young girl.

All in this issue about biological men in a girl’s bathroom. This is nonsense. And my opponent will not come forward and say anything. And then last night you saw that they equated bathroom opportunities with me being black in America. And here I am, second in command of the former capital of the Confederacy—me. The immigrant whom they say as Democrats they love more than anybody—me, a black woman who they say they love as Democrats more than anyone. This is insane.

“I know it’s insane. Here, you would think that your opponent—and we’ll take a look right now real quick of the polls. She has a 5, roughly a 5-point lead on you. A 6-point lead on you, Abigail Spanberger,” Kilmeade continued while showing a graphic of Spanberger leading by 7 points.

“This would be a time for to stand up and say that’s out of bounds,” Kilmeade said as he then quickly corrected himself.

“But she has– Yeah, she did actually denounce the sign. I’d love to see it more public,” Kilmeade said.

Spanberger put out a statement on the sign, calling it a “repulsive display. It’s racist, abhorrent and unacceptable.” Earle-Sears then attacked Spanberger further, accusing her condemnation of not going far enough, echoing Kilmeade.
