O’Reilly: Bergdahl Desertion Charge an ‘Embarrassment’ for Obama

Bill O’Reilly‘s “Talking Points Memo” Wednesday night centered around the military’s decision to charge Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl with desertion after he was released by the Taliban last May in exchange for five detainees. But really, the Fox host’s opening monologue was about the “embarrassment” the entire episode has brought upon President Barack Obama.

“The army’s decision today is an acute embarrassment for President Obama,” O’Reilly declared, showing footage of the president’s Rose Garden appearance with Bergdahl’s family following the announcement of his release.

O’Reilly also shared the clip of National Security Adviser Susan Rice saying Bergdahl “served the United States with honor and distinction,” a moment the host found equally “embarrassing” for her and the Obama administration.

“If you are a supporter of administration, what do you say now?” O’Reilly asked. “It is long past time for Americans to stop the ideological nonsense and see things for what they really are.”

O’Reilly did not say whether or not he believes the president should have left Bergdahl with the Taliban regardless of why and how he left his unit in Afghanistan.
