Outnumbered Gets Heated in Michael Cohen Debate: It’s as ‘Smelly as the Clinton Foundation’
In a surprising turn of events, Outnumbered went in on Trump lawyer Michael Cohen for “pay for play” tactics, but perhaps veered a little bit too close to the “let’s not forget when the Clintons did it” side for comfort.
“To me this is as smelly as the Clinton Foundation and I hated that,” Melissa Francis said. “I don’t like pay for play in any corner. We didn’t want Hillary Clinton doing it, we don’t want anyone else doing it.”
“The underlying concern here is very disturbing,” Democratic strategist Zac Petkanas agreed, but he stuck to the matter at hand. “This is the first time we have a financial connection between the Trump team and the Kremlin… an oligarch who is under sanction for interfering in the United States election has paid half a million dollars to the personal attorney of Donald Trump within weeks of the election happening.”
Kennedy then jumped in at Francis’ urging, saying that the situation was similar to when Bill Clinton “got half a million dollar payday to speak to a Kremlin backed Russian bank,” to which Petkanas restated the facts of the Trump situation and added: “I wonder why any time you can’t defend Donald Trump you bring in Clinton.”
The women quickly backed off and did an elaborate surely-not-I routine.
She’s really grossed out by any of it,” Kennedy clarified.
“But then what does Bill Clinton have to do with anything?” Petnakas asked.
“Bill Clinton took about a half million dollars for a, [Kennedy] put in air quote, speech,” Harris Faulkner explained. Kennedy’s good question was, how can you look at one side, and you’re both asking the same question of each other, and Melissa’s answer is, I don’t like them both.”
In response, Petnakas refused to compare the two situations. “There was an investigation into [the Clintons] and they were cleared,” he said.
“People love abuse of power if it fits their narrative,” Dagen McDowell chimed in later on, after quite a bit of crosstalk. “If it involves going after some one they hate. And liberals might love it now it’s anti-Trump. They’re going to hate it when it bites them in the you-know-what.”
