Pelosi: Midterms Wasn’t GOP ‘Wave,’ More Like ‘Ebb’ of Dem Voters
This week’s midterms represented a Republican wave; even many Democrats have agreed with that categorization. But Nancy Pelosi begs to differ. In comments to reporters today, the top Democrat in the House spun the midterm results not as a grand victory for the Republicans, but as the result of not as many Democrats turning out to vote as they should have.
“I don’t consider it a wave,” she said, “I think it’s an ebb––an ebbing of Democratic voters rather than a wave of Republican voters, because I don’t think the American people gave anybody a great big seal of approval.”
President Obama invoked the will of the people in his post-midterm press conference when he repeatedly brought up the two-thirds of Americans who didn’t turn out to the polls this week.
