Peter Navarro Rips ‘Bought and Paid For’ Elon Musk Amid Twitter Buy: ‘I Don’t Trust the Guy’

Former Trump trade adviser Peter Navarro does not trust Elon Musk with Twitter.

Navarro, who remains a staunch ally to former President Donald Trump, told Newsmax TV’s Eric Bolling on Monday he fears Musk might be compromised by China’s government.

Musk’s $44 billion offer to purchase Twitter was accepted Monday. The news ends weeks of speculation about whether the billionaire would acquire the platform.

The first thought on the minds of many was whether Trump would regain access to his old account. Trump has been banned on the site since days after the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

Trump told Fox News, after it was announced Musk had reached an agreement to buy Twitter, that he would not return to the platform.

Navarro told Bolling on The Balance he thinks his former boss would be better off using Twitter to reach potential 2024 voters, if he runs.

“My advice to the boss, is if he wants to reach a maximum amount of people, do that, OK,” he said. “Get back on Twitter, get back on any platform that’s not going to enhance the Silicon Valley oligarch.”

Bolling pointed out Trump will limit his reach by only posting to his own platform, Truth Social.

“You’re right, because the people who are on Truth Social are going to be Trump voters anyway,” Bolling said. “He doesn’t really need to get their vote, he’s got them.”

After being offered the final thought, Navarro said he is concerned Musk is not to be trusted.

“Social media is today’s nuclear weapon in politics,” Navarro said. “The thing I’m concerned about with Elon Musk, everybody hails him as the great white knight here. He’s bought and paid for by the Chinese Communist Party.”

Navarro explained he fears China could use leverage over Musk’s production in the country to influence American elections.

“I worry at one point that Twitter might be compromised during the middle of a political campaign by China threatening Musk’s Tesla production in communist China,” he said.

Navarro concluded that while many people on the right are celebrating Musk, he has not joined them.

“I’m not ecstatic, over the moon like some people are,” Navarro concluded. “Frankly, I don’t trust the guy.”
