Richard Painter on WH Vetting Process: I Don’t Know if Someone is ‘On Drugs’ or ‘Just Doesn’t Care’

On Wednesday night, CNN host Don Lemon asked Richard Painter his thoughts on the Dr. Ronny Jackson revelations.

“As an ethics person, how can the White House honestly say Dr. Jackson has undergone all his vetting?” Lemon asked, referring to revelations Jackson was handing out drugs like candy and banged on a female colleague’s door when drunk. “Wouldn’t this have come up?”

Painter, in response, noted the White House’s spotty track record.

“Well it’s the same person who probably vetted Rob Porter, the guy who was accused of beating his wives,” Painter noted. “This White House doesn’t know what’s going when it comes to vetting any more than they do financial conflicts of interest. I don’t know whether somebody’s on drugs or whether somebody just doesn’t care.”

He added: “The president is tweeting as if…I don’t know what’s going on with him. This White House is in complete disarray.”
