Savannah Guthrie Refuses to Believe Elizabeth Warren Isn’t Running
Today host Savannah Guthrie repeatedly asked Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), in just about every way possible, whether she was running for president, at times ignoring Warren’s response that she wanted to talk about more important issues like student loans.
“I’m not running and I’m not going to run,” Warren said, before listing student loans, medical research, the minimum wage, and Social Security as urgent issues.
“I have read every single interview you have done in the last year, where people ask will you run for president, and it seemed that you were hedging a little bit,” Guthrie said. “I don’t hear that now. Are you unequivocally saying ‘I’m not running for president in 2016’?”
Warren assented to this. “Possibly I’m beating a dead horse,” Guthrie said, “but did you ever entertain the possibility of running for president?”
It went on like that. Incidentally:
To colleagues in political community: After Warren's remarks to @SavannahGuthrie, it's time to no longer include her in '16 polls, right?
