Sean Hannity’s Go-To Radical Imam Convicted of Supporting ISIS
Alas, cable news has just been robbed of its go-to punching bag after Anjem Choudary was found guilty of terrorism offenses by a U.K. court Tuesday.
Choudary, perhaps the most notorious radical imam in the West, was convicted after signing a pledge of allegiance to ISIS and supporting the Islamic terrorist group in online media. Both are illegal under British law. Choudary faces as much as ten years in prison during the sentencing phase of his trial next month.
Choudary was also famous for appearing on American cable news– especially Fox News’ Hannity— to argue in favor of radical Islam and generally getting torn to shreds by conservatives. Among his more memorable moments:
- stating bluntly on Hannity that Pamela Geller deserved to die for depicting Mohammad– to her face
- arguing in the wake of the Paris shooting that the freedom of expression does not protect blasphemy against Mohammad
- being confronted by guest host Tucker Carlson after arguing that British Muslims should receive violent punishment for selling alcohol
- opening an interview with Newsmax’s Steve Malzberg by demanding to know whether he was Jewish
Truly, his insightful commentary will be missed.
