Sean Spicer: It’s ‘Sad to See a Judge Go Rogue’ by Blocking Travel Ban
In the same interview where White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer reacted to Melissa McCarthy playing him on “Saturday Night Live.” Spicer joined President Donald Trump in taking aim at U.S. District Judge James L. Robart for issuing an order blocking the latter’s travel/refugee ban. Spicer didn’t make it as personal as Trump (who called Robert a “so-called judge”) did, but he was still harsh, saying that “it’s somewhat sad to see a judge go rogue like this.”
“[President Trump] utilized that power in a very legal, constitutional manner to ensure that we are safe, our people are safe, our country is safe, our institutions are safe,” Spicer said. “And it’s somewhat sad to see a judge go rogue like this. [Fox jump cuts ahead] It’s a shame that we’re not focused more on making sure that we’re applauding the decision by the president to make a renewed focus on keeping this country safe.”
