Seth Meyers Rips Kavanaugh’s Virgin Defense: Celibacy Doesn’t Dismiss Assault, ‘Just Ask Thousands of Priests’

On Tuesday night, Seth Meyers blasted Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh for his recent interview on Fox News.

In a segment called “Couple Things,” Meyers began by took aim at Kavanaugh’s defense he gave to Martha MacCallum that he was a virgin during high school and college.

“It does not matter if you were a virgin. You are being accused of sexual assault, not sexual intercourse. Those things have nothing to do with each other.” Meyers told Kavanaugh. “Devoting yourself to celibacy doesn’t mean you can’t be a sexual assaulter. Just ask thousands of priests.”

The Late Night host advised Kavanaugh to stop saying he’s “friends with women.”

“Just because you’re friends with one woman, doesn’t mean you haven’t been awful to another,” Meyers continued. “That’s like saying you’re a vegetarian because you didn’t eat your dog.”

He dinged the SCOTUS nominee for having his wife sit next to him, saying it’s a “horrible thing to do to a woman while you’re trying to prove that you don’t do horrible things to women.”

Meyers then mocked Fox News for being Kavanaugh’s choice to do his interview while trying to distance himself from sexual assault.

“Usually when they interview someone accused of sexual assault, it’s for a job! Shoutout Bill O’Reilly,” Meyers exclaimed. “Going to Fox News to prove you’re not a pervert is like doing a word search to prove you’re smart.”

His wrapped up by criticizing Kavanaugh’s insistence that there was never a night when he drank so much that he didn’t remember it.

“But how could you remember that you didn’t forget?” Meyers asked. “That’s the whole point of forgetting! That’d be like saying you don’t remember being born so it didn’t happen. Which at this point, I bet you wish you hadn’t been because an FBI investigation may suddenly make you remember something you said you forgot.”
