Shep Drops ‘Journalist’ Card in Response to Hannity: ‘Sometimes Facts Are Displeasing’

During a radio interview with Sebastian Gorka yesterday, Fox News’ Sean Hannity took aim at one of his colleagues. While highlighting the differences between the network’s opinion shows and straight news programs, he pointed to Fox News anchor Shepard Smith as an example of that diversity of opinion:

“Shep is a friend, I like him, but he’s so anti-Trump. I mean, he went off on a rant last week. That’s fine.”

Last week while speaking with Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace, Smith spoke out against the Trump administration and Donald Trump Jr. regarding last year’s Russian meeting, stating that the deception is “mind-boggling.”

In response to Hannity’s comments about him, Smith gave Mediaite the following statement:

“Sometimes facts are displeasing. Journalists report them without fear or favor.”

Mediaite’s Colby Hall noted in a column late last week that there is a “growing set of voices” at Fox News who are expressing pointed criticism of the president and the White House. Besides, Smith, he highlighted other anchors and contributors such as Wallace, Chris Stirewalt and Charles Krauthammer who have all lambasted the administration for its reaction to the Don Jr. controversy.
