SNL Presents Mitt Romney ‘Raw And Unleashed’
As much as the media might want to pretend it isn’t true, Mitt Romney will probably be the inevitable winner of the Republican nomination for president. Unfortunately, however, his staid demeanor is not nearly as exciting as Herman Cain’s sexual harassment scandal or Rick Perry’s inability to remember government agencies. That’s where the “Committee To Elect Mitt Romney” comes in. By showing the “raw and unleashed” side of Mitt Romney, he will hopefully get a little more attention from the press and coast the rest of the way to the nomination.
Jason Sudeikis’s Romney was played with exactly the right amount of smarmy bravado. Bits like trying desperately to make it seem like his female former employee (played by Kristin Wiig) had been sexually harassed by him, and answering fan mail from his wife and son were mildly amusing, but the fact is there have just been too many sketches about the Republican nominees on the show lately, and the well is running a little dry. This cold open in particular was about as boring as Mitt Romney is. So…basically a victory for the writers!
