SNL Takes On Donald Trump: ‘In This GOP Field Trump Seems Like A Viable Candidate…’

“Weekend Update” brought us the unholy juxtaposition of Republican prospective presidential candidates with contestants on “Celebrity Apprentice.” Seth Meyers‘ case was this: given that Donald Trump is forcing us to pay attention to his possible presidential run on the Republican ticket, it only made sense to attempt to sort the rest of the would-be GOP leaders according to their similarity to Meatloaf and Dionne Warwick (Newt Gingrich and Trump himself).

Though the concept is pretty funny, the thought of presidential candidates culled from “Celebrity Apprentice” just gets depressing once you think about how many months we have to go before the Iowa caucus, during which we’ll be forced to pretend to take Donald Trump’s presidential candidacy seriously (or at least seriously enough to allow him squeeze out a few more appearances on “The View”). Sigh!
